Many women were asked, at some point, who is a perfect guy. And of course the answers were always tall, dark and handsome with a tad bit of emotional, charming and caring. But who would've thought there could be another angle to the perfect guy?
The Perfect Guy (2015), starring Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut among others and directed by David M. Rosenthal, brings you something to think about the perfect guy. After a painful breakup, successful lobbyist Leah Vaughn (Sanaa Lathan) jumps into a passionate relationship with a charming stranger (Michael Ealy). When her ex-boyfriend (Morris Chestnut) resurfaces in her life she has to figure out who she should trust and who she should fear.
The movie starts with an introduction to the couple and the trouble they face in keeping that relationship alive. The story-line moves from the jagged relationship with Dave to how Leah bumps into the charming Carter and how toxic was her newfound romance. The Director brought out emotions right out of the screen and into the audience. The feeling of helplessness and fear gripped throughout as the story progressed. Michael Ealy played the part quite well and carried the image of a psychopath brilliantly throughout the movie. However, Morris Chestnut and, to a certain extent, Sanaa Lathan were not convincing enough with their parts.
The story-line, although choppy, covered the entire story in 1 hour 40 mins. The run-time did injustice to the execution of the movie. It felt like the story had to be rushed. Before you know it, the movie ends! For that kind of a story, who would've thought it could be that easy at the end?
To summarise, it is a good movie to watch and Carter Duncan, played by Michael Ealy, is the best performance in the movie. I would give it a 7 out of 10. But then again that's just my opinion.
