When a mysterious soldier, David (Dan Stevens) introduces himself to the Peterson family as a friend of their son who died in action, everyone instantly falls in love with him. Little did they know that his mere presence would change their lives forever. Having fought side by side with their son, he fills the void by transforming into a son every parent is proud of and a big brother every sibling wants. He goes out of his way to “help” the family.
Lance Reddick plays a strong character of Major Carver who uses all the resources in his disposal to find and capture David. Major Carver knows more about David than anyone else. He is a perfect adversary who leads the movie into the final showdown.
The Guest is an action-packed psychological thriller that transforms into a horror (similar to the Scream or Halloween franchise) with a hint of sci-fi. This dark, slightly humourous movie would definitely be a turning point in Dan Stevens film career. The delivery of witty dialogues with mild humour defines David’s character. The screenplay is fast and the soft music adds to the psycho-horror effect. Written by Simon Barrett and directed by Adam Wingard, the movie goes beyond the expectations of their previous work, You're Next.
We wouldn’t blame you if you start supporting the villain after watching the movie.
