Synopsis: When the owner of a major elephant camp is murdered, Kham finds himself the number one suspect and on the run from both the police and the deceased's vengeful twin nieces. But luck is on Kham's side when he runs into an Interpol agent sent to Thailand on a secret mission. Director: Prachya Pinkaew Writer: Eakasit Thairatana Stars: Tony Jaa, RZA, Petchtai Wongkamlao In spite of all the riches, Doug Harris (Josh Gad) couldn’t find any friend to be on his guest list, let alone a best man for his wedding with his dream girl Gretchen Palmer (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting). As an act of desperation, he hires Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart) to be his best man. Jimmy is the owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides best men for socially challenged guys in need. Jimmy makes it clear to Doug that it is just a business deal and there shouldn’t be any contact after the wedding. Kevin Hart steals the spotlight with his fast, witty dialogues delivered in Chris Tucker like style. Josh Gad has also done exceptionally well considering the fact that he is mainly known for voice-overs in several animated serials and films. Jimmy’s task becomes almost impossible as he finds out what Doug has told his fiancee about his imaginary best man (friend) named “Bic” and that Doug wants him to pull off “The Golden Tux” which had never been done in the past. Jimmy takes on the challenge head-on and assembles a team of misfits and trains them to be groomsmen. The movie has several situational comedy scenes and at times crass humour but nonetheless enjoyable. Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting known for her role as Penny in The Big Bang Theory seemed to have a very small role in the movie in spite of being one of the main characters, it could probably be because of Kevin Hart’s and Doug Harris’s brilliant performance. The movie is definitely humourous, funny and enjoyable. You will find it entertaining as long as you get over some of the insensitive and cringing jokes. You can catch The Wedding Ringer in UAE cinemas on February 19, 2015. In the mean time, check out the trailer. Rating: 4 out of 5 |
